Høvringen mountain altar is a place for peace, reflection, prayer and experience. – A place where the word of God is preached in church services, children are baptized, couples are married and singing and music are shared. Here you can sit down, enjoy the silence, tranquility and the special atmosphere that characterizes the facility.
The mountain altar is centrally located at Høvringen. Visitors arrive on foot, with the exception of people with disabilities, who can drive up to the gate. Cars and buses must use the parking lots at Høvringen.
Idea maker and craftsman Paul Brun has designed and built the altar and baptismal font. It has been a time-consuming process, and today it appears as a jewel in nature.
There is great symbolism in the central part of the facility. The altarpiece symbolizes Jesus and Simon Peter in conversation. Jesus had told Simon Peter that he and his brothers should cast their nets again. They were to do this even though they had not previously caught any fish. They cast the net again and the catch was large. In this setting, one can see the altarpiece as the sail on the boat, the altar itself as the boat and the altar ring as the net. If we look closely at the bottom of the net, we see a fish. So one can think: Does this symbolism only collect fish or does it also collect people? We hope you study the symbolism yourself. Perhaps there may be more images from the Bible.
The stone altarpiece symbolizes Jesus and Simon Peter in conversation, but also the sail of the fishermen's boat.
Decorated and ready for the wedding.
